Abstract:

We propose an expansion of a previously described stochastic model fit in a Bayesian framework for prediction of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection. The former model was proposed for longitudinal observational data with the outcome of interest as the rate of male-to-female transmission of CT infection per coital event and included parameters for the modifying effects of condom usage and antibiotic therapy effectiveness. We propose expanding the model to include genetic risk factors for CT reinfection as well as a parameter for the modifying effect in CT clearance associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV) co-infection. We also propose including a scenario for spontaneous clearance of CT infection. We further update the model for the recent literature in estimating antibiotic therapy effectiveness. Finally, we propose the outcome of interest to be CT reinfection within 3 months of the last clinical visit.
