Author(s): Danquan Prunty* and Alpha Savage
Companies: U.S. Census Bureau and US Census Bureau
Keywords: Quality; Assurance; Falsification; SIPP; Survey; Reinterview
Abstract:

Contributors to Falsification in SIPP Potentially External to the Field Representative. The Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) serves to collect source and amount data related to various types of income, labor force participation, social program participation and eligibility, and general demographic characteristics to measure the effectiveness of existing federal, state, and local programs. Quality Assurance (QA) for SIPP has primary been focused on reinterview. The reinterview is evaluating if the field representative (FR) falsified the data that was collected. It is likely that other factors potentially external to the FR is having an effect on the quality of data being collected. The purpose of this research is to assess what other factors (such as, but not limited to, geography, demographics, contact modes and attempts, and even potential survey responses) could have an impact on the data collected by SIPP.
