Abstract:

The aim of the research was to find an effective way to visualize the symptoms of chronic illnesses. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease, is notoriously difficult to detect. This illness can involve and affect nearly any organ, often resulting in a wide range of symptoms. A literature review was conducted to collect heterogeneous data about lupus symptom clusters. A method of interactive visualization was developed using D3. The data was standardized and formatted to be used in the interactive visualization. This document is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 1246818.
