Abstract:

In this talk we show how the logarithmic quantile estimation (LQE) method is derived and applied to nonparametric factorial designs using rank tests for patterned alternatives. We focus on tests for known trend and umbrella patterns in the main effects of two widely used designs: a fixed effect two factor model and a mixed effect repeated measures model. Additionally, we test for patterned alternatives in the interaction between the treatment effect and time in the repeated measures model. For each test statistic we obtain the significance level and the power using the LQE procedure. The LQE method uses only the data and not the asymptotic distribution and does not require the estimation of the covariance or the Satterthwaite-Smith degrees of freedom.
