Many health centres have a biostatistics unit (BU) which offers services to its members. Though prior recommendations about BUs' structure have been published, it is unclear if they are representative of how the BUs are actually structured. They also don't go into details regarding more specific issues from day to day work. In the present time, the best way for a BU to improve its structure, or for a team to create a brand new BU with a solid foundation, is to gather information and advices from already existing BUs. The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss the optimal structure of BUs, what are the pros and cons of a centralized unit and of billing, as well as which tips can be used to improve BUs, increase their efficiency and biostatisticians' satisfaction. Technicalities such as funding, targets, management and support will also be discussed. Anyone working in a BU or interested in sharing their experience related to this issue should attend this roundtable. The facilitator will also share pros, cons and tips obtained through surveys and interviews with 11 BUs in the province of Quebec.
