Activity Number: 229 - Statistical Process Monitoring of High-Volume Data Streams
Type: Topic Contributed
Date/Time: Monday, July 30, 2018 : 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM
Sponsor: Quality and Productivity Section
Abstract #329384 Presentation
Title: Some Sampling and Aggregation Strategies for Statistical Process Monitoring
Author(s): William H Woodall* and Inez Zwetsloot
Companies: Virginia Tech and City University of Hong Kong
Keywords: Statstical process control; Health-related monitoring; Social network monitoring; Control charts
Abstract:

The rational subgrouping principle for determining an effective sampling plan for process monitoring will be quickly reviewed. There will be some discussion of other issues related to sampling as it applies to monitoring. Because it is very common to form samples by aggregating data over fixed time intervals, there will be a focus on the effect of temporal aggregation on process monitoring performance. The presentation will conclude with some practical advice and directions for future research.
