Abstract:

Data, data everywhere - and so few drops of information! There is no question about our ability to measure, collect, and store terabytes, petabytes, exabytes, zettabytes and even yottabytes of data. What do we do with all these data is the question. The exploration, understanding and presentation of large data sets has become a major issue. Fortunately, many sophisticated data analysis methods and even more sophisticated software are appearing every year. What still is missing are sophisticated, yet easily understandable ways of presenting the results of our sophisticated analyses to oftentimes unsophisticated audiences. This is especially true when we want to show major (or even minor) changes over time.

We shall share some recent work on dynamic data visualization for maternal and child mortality across 193 countries. More importantly we want to see reductions in mortality and the reasons for some of the incredible improvements achieved in parts of the world and identify best practices.

We look forward to members of the roundtable sharing their work in dynamic data visualization and ideas from the fast changing world of "data science."
