F.C. Barcelona playing philosophy has created a great impact in modern soccer, setting a complete new schema of understanding collective behaviour and paths for success in sport. Behind this, there is complex process of knowledge acquisition and translation into the field that involved from the transformation of training methods, to even the daily-use terminology, deriving into a ball-centered comprehensive vision of the game. Nowadays, in the era of data, the club wants to lead the challenge of understanding the game better through the use of specialized tracking and performance data of all kinds. For this, years of experience and smart-intuition must be translated into interpretable statistical models, that allow to explain playing patterns in simple terms for coaches and players. We will review the data analysis strategy of the club, from the development of metrics for individual performance, to the exploration of spatio-temporal dynamics to provide a glance of knowledge on collective behaviour. We also detail a hierarchical and cyclical process of data structuring and soccer concepts development, that involves specialized soccer analysts, data analysts and coaches.
