Abstract:

The opportunities for statistical leadership across the many phases of drug discovery, development and approval processes are considerable in every aspect. It requires strong leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams in the design and planning of scientific research and making decisions based on data. It requires more effective communication to the non-statistician colleagues of the value of statistics in using data to answer questions, predict outcomes, and make decisions in the face of uncertainty.In this panel, statistical leaders in the pharmaceutical domain will offer their views on the strategic directions for statisticians to help shape and advance the industry, both in leadership and innovation in the following discussion topics: Leadership competencies like listening, networking & communication;Building statistical & enterprise leadership across organization, or policy leadership spanning multiple organizations to influence decision-making;Bringing leadership & innovation together to foster creative thinking to support internal decision-making; Create a working environment with strong scientific focus and operational excellence to attract and retain top talent.
