Abstract:
|
I met John Cornell when we were both Graduate students at Virginia Tech in the mid-to-late 1960s. He was a doctoral student in statistics and I was a doctoral student in industrial engineering and operations research. We next door neighbors and soon discovered that we had many things in common. For example, I enjoyed wine and he collected corkscrews. I plan to share some of my memories of the interactions he and I had as students. We formed a friendship that lasted until his passing. I also plan to talk about the influence John had on my career.
