Title: First (?) Occurrence of the 25 Most Influential (?) Statistical Terms Introduced in the Last 20 Years
Author(s): John McKenzie*

Keywords: Speed ; Big Data ; Bootstrap ; Data Science ; Tag Cloud ; Word Cloud
Abstract:

In 1995 and 1998 American Statistician articles, H. A. David provided lists of the first occurrence of common terms in probability and statistics. In the last 20 years many important terms have been appeared in applied and mathematical statistics courses. This speed session presentation will identify the 25 most influential terms that did not appear in David's second paper. Some of these terms are present in Aldrich's Earliest Know Uses of Some of the Words in Mathematics website, such as Efron's Bootstrap and Butterfield's tag (or word) cloud. Others are associated with Big Data and data science.
