Title: Spatial Time Series Classification with Applications to Wind Energy

Keywords: time series ; spatial data ; spatio-temporal data ; classification ; wind energy
Abstract:

Integration of wind energy into the power grid requires the simultaneous analysis of wind speeds varying over time across multiple locations, which may be considered as spatial time series. We propose techniques to describe the joint behavior of these series, some of which exploit the spatially-driven correlation between sites, and we explore classification using a variety of distance metrics.
