Abstract:

In this paper we discuss shape of hazard function of Kumaraswamy distribution. Specifically we establish that the hazard function of Kumaraswamy distribution is either of a bath-tub shape or is increasing. In reliability and survival analysis it is often of interest to determine the point at which hazard function reaches its minimum when the shape of the hazard function is bath-tub. We propose different estimators of that change point using maximum likelihood and quantile method and then evaluate their performances.
