Abstract:
|
We consider a two sample comparison problem for the sequential patterns of observations among subsamples. The sequential patterns are estimated by using U-statistics, with zero inflated considered. The U-statistics are then used in a Chi-square type test statistics framework for hypothesis testing. The distribution of the test statistic is shown to be independent with the underlining distributions from the subsamples, given the probabilities that one subsample observation is less than an observation from another subsample. Bootstrapped p-values are obtained through simulation. Simulation studies suggest that the test is consistent. This work is motivated by a biological experiment with a split-plot design, for the purpose of comparison of the sequential patterns in seed weight from two treatment groups as subgroups in each of the two groups subject to increasing levels of stress.
