Abstract:

Multiple comparisons among the race/ethnic groups in mental health use for mental health disorders with stigma in the military were not known. We will use Bonferroni method to do pairwise comparisons across the five race/ethnic groups (Asian, White, Black, American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Other) for a given level of mental disorder and stigma, based on the 2008 Survey of Health-Related Behaviors among US military active duty personnel. The primary outcome of interest was seeking mental health care, and was dichotomized as: Yes/no. The six categories of mental health disorders were: depression, serious psychological distress, generalized anxiety disorder, suicidal thoughts, suicidal attempt, and post-traumatic stress disorder; each disorder was dichotomized. Perceived stigma for mental health care (or stigma) was dichotomized as: Yes/no. Weighted binary logistic regression model will be used. Results will be discussed.
