This discussion aims to bring together different perspectives on what "statistical collaboration/consulting" means. Some of the underlying challenges facing statisticians in working with non-statisticians have led to a recent trend emphasizing "collaboration" over "consulting." For a number of reasons, however, this has been met with mixed reactions from statisticians and non-statisticians alike. By seeking to find commonality that goes beyond the current semantics, we may gain understanding about why such distinction is made in the first place.
