Title: The Spectrum of Consulting in Academia
Author(s): Emily Griffith*
Companies: NC State University
Keywords: Consulting ; Academia
Abstract:

From running a single statistical test to being a co-investigator on a large grant, statistical consulting in academia encompasses a broad spectrum of activities. One commonality is that every project involves filling a need for high quality statistical support. I will discuss the types of projects we work on at North Carolina State University. Although the projects academic statistical consultants work on have varying levels of statistical complexity, the satisfaction gained by helping a colleague meet their research goals is unchanging.
