Title: The Academic Applied Statistician - Transitioning Domain-Specific Data into Statistics Research
Author(s): John Stevens*
Companies: Utah State University
Keywords: consulting
Abstract:

Academic statisticians with a research-centric role are usually expected to produce research in the field of statistics. Statistical consulting opportunities with non-statistics colleagues may be viewed as distractions from this expectation. However, such statisticians can often instead transition statistical consulting projects into meaningful collaborative statistics research projects, while still meeting the immediate needs of their non-statistics colleagues. This presentation will present key principles that have proven useful in past experiences to yield statistics research from statistical consulting opportunities.
