Abstract:

Distributions of the sample mean and sample variance of a random sample from a skew normal population have been studied and closed skew chi-squared distributions have been defined recently by us. Based on our results, in this presentation, plausibility functions and plausibility regions about the location and scale parameters of skew normal distributions are given by using inferential models (IMs), which are new methods for statistical inferences. Some simulation studies are provided for illustration of our results.
