Hepatitis B vaccine has been recommended for adults at increased risk for infection including travelers to high or intermediate hepatitis B endemic countries. Unvaccinated persons from the United States who travel to such countries are at risk for hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. These persons include tourists, military personnel, missionaries, foreign-born persons who return to their country of origin to visit friends or relatives, and others who work or study abroad in countries with high or intermediate HBV endemicity. However, information regarding factors associated with hepatitis B vaccination among travelers is limited. This study will assess hepatitis B vaccination among adults aged ?18 years traveling to countries of high or intermediate endemicity using data from the 2015 National Health Interview Survey. Predictive marginals from a multivariable logistic regression model will be used to identify factors independently associated with vaccination. The findings from this assessment will be useful in planning and implementing strategies for increasing vaccination coverage among travelers.
