Abstract #322148
Title: An Overview of Past, Present, and Future Developments in the Analysis of Recurrent Events and Competing Risks Data
Author(s): Edsel Aldea Pena*
Companies: University of South Carolina
Keywords: recurrent event data ; competing risks data ; semiparametric models ; dynamic models
Abstract:

In this talk I will provide an overview of past and present research pertaining to the modeling and analysis of recurrent event data and recurrent competing risks data. Such data are highly relevant in the biomedical areas, reliability and engineering fields, economic and social sciences, and financial markets. By exploiting the information contained in event recurrences (such as repeated failures, re-occurrence of tumors, repeated commission of crimes, etc.), more efficient analysis could be done and better predictive models could be constructed, as compared to simply doing single-event analysis. I will then discuss future research areas that we are performing in relation to recurrent competing risks data.
