Over a period of 75 years, Theodore W. Anderson made major contributions to multivariate analysis, econometrics, time series analysis, and to probability and many other areas of statistics. This talk reviews his long career, starting with wartime work while at Princeton University, and continuing at the Cowles Commission for Research in Economics, and then at Columbia and Stanford Universities. He was the recipient of many honors and awards, including honorary degrees and academy memberships, and he served the statistics profession in a number of leadership and editorial positions.
