Abstract:

The simultaneous revolutions in measurement, data, and its analysis can change the health care game and revolutionize modern medicine. Using both an ethical framework for a learning health system and the converging market forces transforming healthcare, we will explain how integrated health care delivery systems will increasingly rely on data science to improve health outcomes, individualize care, and reduce the rate of increase in health care spending. In doing so, we will introduce the Johns Hopkins Individualized Health Initiative and discuss its pivotal role in our goal to become the model for an academically-based, integrated health care delivery and financing system.
