In many clinical trials, for instance, in most of the antibiotics clinical trials, the minimal and maximal recommended treatment duration is provided in study protocol and the site physician/doctor can determine the actual treatment duration for the patient based on their own judgement. We are interested to study the impact of difference in duration of treatment on treatment group comparison. The duration is confounded with many other factors other than treatment group. We have implemented some existing approaches for confounding data such as instrumental variable, principal stratification, and also a new approach has been proposed based on the existing methodologies. The simulation results will be used to illustrate our analysis.
