Title: I Was a Statistician Before I Was a Pharmacometrician, I Swear!
Author(s): Kevin Dykstra*

Abstract:

Statisticians and pharmacometricians are both charged with addressing drug development issues quantitatively, but approach the problems from different intellectual perspectives. Drug development organizations find value in both approaches. The education for any specific profession involves learning specific technical skills. However, almost as important to be absorbed are the culture and attitudes of fellow practitioners. This talk will attempt to identify some of the elements for both Biostatistics and Pharmacometrics, cultural and technical, that are valuable in drug development. Further, we will propose and discuss areas where each discipline could benefit from the wisdom of the other.
