Abstract:
|
Emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere influence the earth's radiation. The emission of this greenhouse gas is increasing due to different human activities. In this study, we estimate carbon dioxide emission trends from the yearly time series emission data. The emission trends will be estimated using a system of differential equations for the major contributors of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Differential equations will be developed using the functional data analysis approach. The proposed models will give us an estimate of the rate of change of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at a given time. The data set is obtained from the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC), the primary climate-change data and information analysis center of the United States Department of Energy.
