The American Statistical Association (ASA) updated their Guidelines for Statisticians during 2015/2016. The revision reflected changes in statistical practices, the emergence of 'big data', and streamlining to make them more usable. These guidelines are just that, guidelines, not binding rules. They are intended to help all practicing statisticians, and are not limited to members of ASA. This session will discuss sections of the guidelines with emphasis on their relevance to statistics practitioners who work in the pharmaceutical industry. They will be contextualized within the ethical framework surrounding clinical research and we will discuss additional background and case studies in the biomedical area.
