Abstract:

We propose a new algorithm for computing the probability that specified independent mixtures of order statistics have a particular ordering. This generalizes the algorithm of Frey (2007) based on regular order statistics. We illustrate this algorithm by using it to implement a simple general strategy for nonparametric inference, to obtain confidence bands for distribution function and confidence intervals for population quantiles under imperfect ranking in ranked-set sampling.
