Novartis Oncology Biometrics and Data Management has been working with the Education Office of the American Statistical Association to sponsor summer internships for Ph.D. candidates in Statistics and/or Biostatistics since October 2006. We feel that multiple parties benefit from the internship: the interns, their university, our department and the A.S.A. (because our clinical colleagues regard A.S.A. s internship program very highly). This presentation will describe the various steps of the internship process at Novartis Oncology: including project identification, preparation of the ad for Amstat News, internship screening and selection, analysis plan generation, project completion, and final internship presentation. The presentation will update the ideas presented in an article published in the September 2011 issue of Amstat News.?
