Whether it's called big data, analytics, data science, or simply statistics the Chicago Chapter of the American Statistical Association continues to have a crucial role to play in the growth and relevance of statistical methods in both industry and academia. As the demand for quantitative skills increases, we aim to promote diversity, stimulate research, and maintain high professional standards, so the quality of statistical study keeps pace with this demand. In this session you'll hear about how we are rethinking our approach to membership through social networks and outreach, how we've increased local membership by nearly 30% since the start of 2014, and how we've built a more diverse and engaged audience. With this new foundation in place, we're ready to raise the stakes and play an even more active role in attracting more students to study statistics, while advancing the science and art of statistics across all quantitative disciplines.
