After about 7 years as as a consultant doing data analysis and visualization, I've collected a bunch of weird stories about what went wrong or right. There's the "one pixel line" graph the client was scared by, the "map that could be used by terrorists", the "sperm chart" that took a week to fix after an internal joke, the 35K write-in comments saying the software sucked that no one could interpret... There are lessons behind all of these stories: hard, funny, and sometimes sad.
