Abstract:

A designed experiment is a test or series of tests in which purposeful changes are made to the inputs of the system or various factors within a population so that one can observe and identify differences in the response. Since experiments are performed by investigators in virtually all fields of inquiry, the design and analysis of experiments are an integral part of sound scientific practice. In this presentation the authors will discuss a variety of activities that were infused into our design of experiments class to reinforce the statistical implications associated with planning and performing of an experiment. The activities will include crossbows, trains, Frisbees and fire.
