Abstract:

Adulteration of wines is a topic of continuous research. In this study, data from the Wine Institute of Athens is analyzed to find the best classification method using a variety of minerals, phenols, and anthocyanins. The objective is to classify wines according to different geographic regions: North, South, or Islands. Dimensional reduction techniques are applied, followed by a discriminant analysis. The results show that red wines can be successfully classified according to the three different regions. A comparison of the different classification methods is presented.
