Abstract:
|
This talk will describe the analysis of 6 years of data from a defect database for a large statistical software project (TERR, an R interpreter). The data extraction and clean up techniques will be described. The distribution of different types of bugs over time will be shown along with tests that were developed for differences in bug distribution across software releases. Methods for prediction of the number of bugs yet to be seen will be shown. Issues of sampling biases when making inference with this data will be discussed.
