Abstract:

Motivated by the Healthy Eating Index-2005 (HEI-2005) data set from the NIH-AARP Study of Diet and Health, in which there are various diseases within multiple subpopulations, we consider a weighted logistic regression model to study the relative risks in diseases across subpopulations. Based on this model, we present the asymptotic distributions of the estimators for the log(relative risks) by the maximum likelihood method and by the nonparametric bootstrap method, respectively; and propose six different methods to form the confidence intervals of the relative risks for comparison. Furthermore, model comparison within four different models including our weighted one are performed by the hypothesis test and the likelihood ratio test, respectively. At last, the application of all those methods to the HEI-2005 data are illustrated.
