Abstract:

The opportunities to use Bayesian methods throughout drug development are widespread. From an industry perspective, there are many ways in which statisticians are utilizing Bayesian methods to design clinical trials and improve the decision making process. The Bayesian paradigm allows for sequential learning and the results of Bayesian analyses are probability statements about the quantities of interest, enhancing the ability of decision makers to reach conclusions and determine next steps. In this presentation, we will highlight several opportunities for utilizing Bayesian methods in simulation, design and analysis of clinical trials from an industry perspective. We will also share case examples demonstrating the value of their use to improve on the entire clinical development planning process, including more informed decision making.
