Abstract:
|
We carried out an experiment to test the effect of two League of Women voter education programs for the November 2014 election in Dallas County, Texas. Dallas County League was concerned that the new Texas Voter ID law would cause some voters in the county to either not vote or to not have the proper ID at the polls on Election Day. As a result, they wanted to test two educational mailing pieces for samples of low-propensity voters: those that are young and/or Hispanic. The experiment was designed by one class of statistical consulting students, and analyzed by the students in the next semester's class. We describe the findings of the experiment, as well as lessons learned from service learning projects.
