Abstract:
|
The recent publication of the ASA Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Programs in Statistical Science (http://www.amstat.org/education/pdfs/guidelines2014-11-15.pdf) has prompted us at Penn State to rethink our undergraduate curriculum, and to begin to adapt as needed to better meet the recommendations presented in the guidelines. More generally, we've been discussing how to revamp our curriculum, including identifying what needs to be improved and discussing the best ways to implement the desired changes. This talk will discuss the process of rethinking an entire curriculum in light of the new guidelines, and associated challenges and opportunities.
