Abstract:

During translation messenger RNA produced by transcription is decoded by ribosomes to produce specific polypeptides. Ribosome profiling, a second generation sequencing technology, was developed to measures the position and counts of ribosomes. When combined with corresponding mRNA sequencing data, ribosome profiling data can give insights into translational efficiency. We developed the Babel framework to discover gene level changes in translational efficiency between different conditions utilizing ribosome profiling data. Here we extend Babel to identify changes within a gene and isoform-specific translational differences.
