Abstract:

It is known that that people's food/dish preference is influenced by their experience in their babyhood, however, depending on cooking styles of food/dish, also their experiences after their babyhood may be significant. For example, it is said that people's preference for foods/dishes imported from foreign countries or newly developed foods/dishes made from unfamiliar ingredients may be significantly influenced by their social experience in their adulthood. So it may be meaningful to see when (from what age up to what age) people are susceptible to social conditions and which period (year) is positive or negative for their preferences of a certain food/dish in marketing research for the food business. In this study, for analyzing data given by age and period for people's preferences of food/dish, we propose a statistical model for estimating when (from what age up to what age) people are susceptible to social conditions and which period is positive or negative for people's preference for foods/dishes and show results of fitting the proposed model to actual data obtained from JNN Data Bank conducted by Japanese 28 TV stations including Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS).
