Abstract:
|
Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) is often implemented for spatial interpolation due to its simplicity and robustness to non-normal data. However, this method produces poor results for prediction applications and is not feasible for spatio-temporal data. We propose spatio-temporal interpolation based on regression based inverse distance weighting (RIDW) by Kang and Joseph (2012), and compare it to kriging with external drift (KED) using rainfall data.
