Abstract:

NORC at the University of Chicago serves the public interest and improves lives through social science research that supports informed decisions. This poster will explore NORC recent research in education. Education research has been conducted at NORC since the 40s. NORC has expertise ranging from designing and conducting surveys, evaluating programs, policy analysis, to technical assistance in education. For example, the Survey Doctoral Recipients involves a complex sample design multi-modal collection conducted for the National Science Foundation (NSF). Also in support of the NSF NORC conducted a detailed analysis of outcomes of students whose education was funded by their graduate fellowship program. For Health and Human Services NORC conducted a design study for the National Study of Child Care Supply and Demand that balanced costs, precision and efficiencies against frame limitations for populations such as the American Indian and Alaska Native. Recent analysis projects have addressed a diverse array of education outcomes, including scientific research productivity, college matriculation and completion, K-12 student academic achievement, and preschool cognitive development.
