Abstract:

The topic of Big Data analytics has commanded increasing attention with many schools scrambling to develop academic programs. This panel will offer information about creating programs to prepare students for analytics, big data and data science. Panelists will summarize components of existing UG/Grad programs and present results of a survey designed to capture current interest in analytics programs and how statistics plays a role in such programs. Three additional panelists will share their experiences in creating and offering analytics programs in a business school, a SAS data mining certification housed in a mathematics and statistics department and a highly successful cohort graduate program.
