Author(s): Megan S. Schuler*
Companies: Harvard Medical School
Keywords: propensity score ; statistical software
Abstract:

Due to rising interest in propensity score methods, statistical software packages increasing offer propensity score procedures, allowing users to easily implement more advanced techniques (e.g., full matching, kernel matching, and subclassification). This presentation will provide an overview of the propensity score capabilities of current statistical software packages. Additionally, we will provide a brief tutorial on implementing select propensity score methods in common statistical software, focusing on R, SAS and STATA. Finally, we will review propensity score diagnostic procedures, highlighting the diagnostic capabilities available in various statistical packages. Sample syntax will be provided throughout the talk.
