Title: Recent Advances in Formulating and Evaluating of Models of Absolute Risk
Author(s): Mitchell Gail*
Companies: National Cancer Institute
Keywords: Absolute Risk ; Cumulative Incidence ; Risk-Benefit
Abstract:

Absolute risk is the probability that a person with known characteristics will develop a particular health outcome in a defined time interval. This probability, also known as cumulative incidence, is reduced by competing events. Recent research has focused on methods to develop models of absolute risk, including methods for semi-competing risk settings, and methods to evaluate such models, such as measures of calibration and discriminatory accuracy and measures based on weighing risks and benefits in using such models. This talk will focus on recent developments in these areas.
