Abstract:

In this talk I will discuss the ways a colleague and I have used the topic of sports statistics to increase interest in advanced methods and give motivated students an outlet to conduct sports statistics research. I will discuss the difficulties and successes we've had in creating a club, including advice for anyone considering a similar idea to increase student engagement.
