Abstract:

In his 2014 presidential address, American Statistical Association (ASA) president Nat Schenker stated "Do not ask what ASA can do for you, but what can you do for ASA." However, many students and early-career statisticians do not know the enormous opportunities the ASA has to offer. In this session a panel with representatives from the ASA Council of Sections and Council of Chapters, as well as the 2016 JSM Program Chair and an ASA former president, will discuss the various volunteer opportunities available across the ASA. While sharing their own ASA service experiences, the panelists will illustrate the benefits of leadership opportunities in the ASA. Questions from the audience will be welcomed.
