Title: Structural Equation Modeling Applied in Service Industries
Author(s): Marie Kraska*
Companies: Auburn University
Keywords: structural equation modeling ; Latent Variables ; Endogeneous Variables ; SEM ; Manifest Variables ; Exogeneous Variables
Abstract:

Manifest and latent variables are used to construct a structural model that depicts whether or not unobserved constructs influence measured variables. The purpose of the hypothesized model is to explain relationships among variables in the model. Industries such as restaurants, fitness centers, automotive dealerships, healthcare, electronics, and counseling are examples of services that rely on consumer behavior to assess their effectiveness. Therefore, it is appropriate to explore indicators of observed behavior to identify relationships among unobserved behaviors. The model includes latent variables and indicator variables.
