Abstract

Many neurocognitive diseases including the impairment of chronically infected HIV patients lack accurate measures of brain tissue loss. In a number of recent studies, longitudinal brain imaging data have been collected, but there is no universally agreed upon method to estimate the rates of change of brain structures volumes. We will compare two recently developed analytical methods for studying longitudinal changes in brain structure. First, a tensor based morphometry method of Hua et al. (2011) will be used and second, a method based on the functional principal component regression developed by Zipunnikov et al. (2011) will be applied.
