Abstract:

We compare and contrast several methods for trend detection in hydrological time series with complicated serial autocorrelation structures and relatively short time extents. Our simulations are artificial in that we know the underlying serial autocorrelation structure, so we also describe techniques for determining which type of serial autocorrelation might be present in a particular series.
